6 new schools are opened in Zhuhai, Yangzhou, Jinzhou, Baoding, Yantai and Tai'an.

3 new schools are opened in Wenzhou, Quanzhou and Weifang.

2 new schools are opened in Shiyan and Beijing.

Beijing New Oriental Foreign Language Schools, the first New Oriental international elementary education institution, is established in Yangzhou.

Shanghai and Guangzhou New Oriental Schools are established and become the largest English training schools in their respective regions.

Number of student enrollments reaches 15,000.
